I’ve heard that Early Decision, particularly ED I, is an opportunity for top-ranked LACs (and any other college for that matter) to secure the top candidates. Logically, this would mean that only those who are in the top 10-20% of applicants get accepted ED I. Does this apply for early decision II as well?
I’m applying to Vassar ED II, and while my grades are ok, i’m only in the 18% percentile (out of 1140), and my standardized test scores are “in the range,” but nothing special. However, my ECs are fairly unique and demonstrate initiative, passion, etc, and i’ll have a recommendation letter from 2 former admissions officers at Vassar.
I guess I have 3 main questions then… 1) Did i make a mistake in applying ED II? 2) Do I have any sort of chance? 3) Because Vassar’s M:F ratio is 41:59, and the class of 2008 is 30:70 (a mistake maybe?), does Vassar actively look to accept males, even if they’re a little less qualified?
