Early Decision & Regular Decision Financial Aid??

is there difference between Early Decision Finanacial Aid & Regular Decision Financial Aid?
if so, why??

response please...
thank you!

Theoretically, there shouldn't be any difference in need based aid (merit aid is another story). However, sometimes schools will increase aid when presented with a competing offer. You lose this advantage with ED.

It depends on the school. For instance, Johns Hopkins is very upfront about telling applicants that they would not be considered for some grants when they apply ED. Unfortunately, some schools are not as open about these policies. Some are very inviting to EDers regarding financial aid, emphasizing that every effort will be made to meet need.
