I heard that applying ED shows some colleges you have initiative, but should I wait until my first semester of senior year is finished and apply regular decision, so I'll have a higher GPA?
The college I'm thinking of is University of Chicago.
Current GPA: 3.8/4.0
Senior year classes: AP Chem, AP Econ (Macro and Micro), AP English Lit, AP Calculus BC, Honors language class, Honors Tech Ed (mandatory)

It might help. But, a lot of the time, with the top tier colleges, ED and RD have very close admittance rates. Also, if you are in need of financial aid, ED is a bad option because you are going to want to compare aid offers (and probably don’t want to be tied to a college that might offer mediocre aid). So, if you are not needing financial aid and are really dedicated to UChicago, you might have a slightly better chance applying ED, but not too much of an increase.

Ive read stats that say uchicago ed gives a 28% acceptance rate which is (im assumin) higher than the rd admit rate. If you really want to go to u chicago, then apply ed. Hopefully you have some good ec’s though.

Last year, the EA acceptance rate for Chicago was 22%, while the RD acceptance rate was 9%. Note that Chicago has EA (non-binding), not ED (binding), so this provides you with more incentive to apply early.

Thanks guys. And sorry, I meant to say EA instead of ED. But I think I probably will apply Early Action.
