Early morning taxi to the airport

My daughter has a complicated college visit schedule and needs to get the airport very early on Sunday (April 18). This is the only way for her to visit one of her possible colleges and I am really hoping it will work out. She is an experienced traveler. I think she would need a 5:30 am taxi. Does anyone have any suggestions on how she would do this? I read on the website that campus security can escort kids 24 hours/day. Would it be necessary for safety reasons to ask for their help accompanying her while she waits for the taxi? Are there any particular taxi companies that you have used for the airport run and are considered most reliable? Are the dorms set up so that she could wait for the taxi at the dorm where she is staying or would she need to go to another location?

I know I should just call admissions to ask these questions and I am going to have her do that later today but thought I would post this in the event someone has had a similar experience or has knowledge or recommendations. (She is attending the admitted students weekend plus the additional day for multicultural students.)

Hi, I currently reside in the Metro area. You can reserve and prepay for a taxi with a specific pick-up date and time via credit card. Here’s the number of one of the major taxi companies in the metro area, 612-788-8888. I would make sure to have the taxi pick your dd up 2 hours prior to her flight just to make sure she’s checked in and can grab a bite to eat.

As far as security, if she does not feel comfortable, by all means have a security exscort her to the cab. The companies usually call when they’re within 2 minutes of the pick-up location. The area around MAC is pretty safe, but I would not take the chance in an unfamilar city, though.

The Taxis should pick DD up at the dorm, which all have drive-ups or turn abouts.
