ease of getting variety of classes?

Can anyone tell me how easy (or hard) it is to get into a variety of classes for a freshman who is totally undecided about what he wants to study? And how about the ease of swithching into a different program, i.e. engineering or business? How good is the (Guidance) counseling for these undecided students? Thanks.

This is a link to information about the University Studies program, which is what UD calls the undecided students. There is a lot of information there and I think many of your questions will be answered.

My son was initially classified as University Studies, and he declared as an engineering major with no difficulty, however, he did this as a first semester freshman.

Thanks for your reply. I will check out the link. You've been very helpful. What year is your son now?

Actually, he is a freshman. He made the decision to go from Music Education to University Studies to Mechanical Engineering last summer. He is really enjoying his experience there so far. UD also has great research opportunities for the students, even freshmen. During the fall semester he got a position as an undergraduate research assistant at the Center for Composite Materials. He has even been working 3 days a week during the Winter Session.
