<p>But mechanical is also a larger field, so though more people may apply, there is also room for more people, really, it depends on the school</p>

<p>Oftentimes people say that AeroE is just applying MechE on aircraft. So yes, MechE will have more applicants making it more competitive, but AeroE will have smaller sizes so that will be competitive as well. </p>
<p>Your best bet is just to follow what you want to do. A safe route would be a Bachelors in Mechanical, and then a Masters in Aerospace. Mechanical gives you more job opportunities right off the bat, and I many Mechanical engineers have no problem finding work in the Aerospace industry.</p>
