If a student doesn’t know any English when they get here, it is normal for that student to spend one full academic year just learning English before they take classes for academic credit. No one will think that you made a mistake about that.
Please do inform yourself about the medical school admissions process in the US. It will be much more difficult for you than it is for a US citizen or legal permanent resident.
Anyway guys, is it possible from CCC to transfer to ucla or ucsd for an international student? and pursue my dream which is to be an us surgeon without being an us citizen? is there even 1% (but solid )chance to become a doctor here? can any kind soul (expert in that field) give me some pieces of advice ? (for me and for all foreigners in the same case as me).
Thanks everyone and specially groverrohan for his message i appreciate that
PS: i learned english in 5 months i am still learning for sure but i think i did well comparing to others.
Easiest in terms of transferring? Southern would have to be Santa Monica CC and Northern would have to be De Anza CC in California.
In terms of rigor? I don’t know.
It is VERY DIFFICULT for an international student to get into med school. Many med schools don’t admit ANY internationals at all. Of those that do, some require you pre-pay tuition for all 4 years - in advance. (That’s over $200,000) Johns Hopkins University says that “of the 20,000 or so places in medical school in the US, about 200 got to non-US-citizen/ non-permanent resident.”
