tell me what you all think, which top school is it easiest to get into with high 1200s-mid 1300s SATs but with a very strong GPA

Yeah. This kinda sucks. Maybe you can make up for it with good ECs, leadership, and a GPA, and recognition. A kid at another school I know made it into Georgetown with an 1100, but only because he was in so many leadership and volunteering positions. On the other hand, the valedictorian applied. Burn. Hope this helps!

yea i am pretty bummed i got a 1290 but if i do really well on march cause ive been practicing a lot and get like a 2100+ does that like totally offset the 1290 or will colleges still look at the 1290 and base some decision on that

Usually colleges look at your more recent score, or your highest score. It depends on the college though. Contact their admissions office for more information.

THose are not "bad" SAT scores. You are falling victim to the CC syndrome. There are many excellent schools available to you. Look beyond the Ivys. You could get into several state u honors programs if you have 1300. Also, you have other chances to take SATs. There are many excellent LACs that you should consider.

UC Berkeley's avg. SAT score is in the 1300's.... and thats a damn good school.

Everytime someone posts "Bad SATs" followed by a number higher than 1200 you all make me feel bad.

I think you have a good chance at some good UC schools, also if your other stats are extremely strong I'm pretty sure most colleges will look past that, although some of the ultra-selective ivies will be a reach.

-Off Topic-
hmmm... are you required to report your past SAT scores? Or can you just report the top one? Also, can you combine top scores? I.E:

Test 1: 600v, 750m
Test 2: 650v, 700m

Could you combine the 650v and the 750m? Sorry, kinda went off topic.

i hope so i got a 1290 on the last january SAT and i took it cold i didnt realize until now how badly that could hurt me i just hope that when i take it again in march schools will look at that one over this one

when you send your scores, collegeboard.com sends all of your scores so the colleges see all of them

also, some colleges use the highest scores in math and verbal while other colleges, such as the UCs, use the highest combined score in one sitting

Oh... I see, also are you allowed to take the SATs before junior year? I mean, do they count?

you think i have any chance at Gtown or Upenn right now with a SAT of 1290 but top notch GPA for my school

well a 1290 and upenn is a bit of a stretch but it's always possible.

What makes you think you won't improve your scores with a couple more tries? You have to take the new SAT anyway! Go look at the average SATs (midrange 25-75 percentile) for various schools and see where you fit.

i pretty that i can get my math up like 100 points if i get lucky but verbal is a wild card and writting is iffy... i just cant get motivated to study becuase i feel that im not actually studying and that its doing very much

I personally raised my score 100pts and a friend went from the 1200s to a 1490. Study vocab! and buy some Princeton Review books. It really does help.
