east coast gothic vs. sunny california

oops.... i posted this under chances on accident

I was wondering if anyone could tell me similarities/differences between Princeton and Stanford. What kind of student does each university attract? What is the general atmosphere on campus? Are they equally intense and intellectual? Frat/sorority/ party scene? What about literature and biology classes (my main interests)? Orchestra? Any comments would be helpful!

please....anyone

I'm not an expert, but I've visited both campuses and I definitely feel like the atmosphere is more laid-back at Stanford. That's not to say there's no stress there, or a lack of intellectuals. But as a Californian, I have to say that this constant sunshine really does affect your mood in a positive way. I can't say anything about the biology classes, or the orchestra, but I do know that, personally, if I were lucky enough to get into both Princeton and Stanford, I'd choose Stanford in a heartbeat.

Stanford and Princeton are both great schools. There are no palm trees in Princeton, but other than that the towns of Palo Alto and Princeton are socio-economically very similar.

There is an idea, sometimes called the Chelsea Clinton Rule, that (assuming you are admitted) if you live on the east coast you should attend the west coast school and vice versa. Take the opportunity to get four years of diversity and new experiences and geography in your life. If you don't like there you can always move back when you graduate. You can't go wrong with either school.
