I got a 620 in Writing and Math my first time taking the SAT's. When I take the SAT's for the second time, I really want to go up at least 70 points in those two combined. Is this possible with a LOT of studying? What is the best way to raise your score in those areas?

Yes, of course it’s possible. People have gone up 250+ points in individual sections alone.
First off, get the Official SAT Study Guide. Read through the writing and math sections, do all the practice quizzes, and when you’ve improved a bit, take a practice test.
Check out khanacademy.org for the math section, it really helps.
For the writing section, start reading tough books with sophisticated prose, and write a little bit every day. Sentence errors will become blatantly obvious to you. Also, read some cliff notes and the newspapers so you’ve got lots of examples for the essays.
Every time you feel you’ve improved a little more or you’ve learned a new skill, take another practice test from the SAT Study Guide.
