ECE vs Physics

I am in a dilemma.

I applied for transfer as junior transfer. I haven't heard back from all the places yet but the situation does not change unless I get rejected from all other schools I applied to. I got into my top choice as a ECE at a small research university. I have doubts about studying ECE because I feel like there are holes missing from understanding exactly how things work. Most of the classes I have taken so far has this pre-professional feel to them and we learn just enough to "solve the problem." I am quite certain that I don't just want to be a careered engineer in the future. The lifestyle just does not suite me. My alternative is studying physics in a LAC. Due to the lighter load, I will have more time to learn other subjects outside of my major. As much as I love learning, going this path will not get me any useful skills to get a non-research internship or any applicable knowledge in general.

Any opinion on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

What do you think you want to do after graduating?

With a BS in ECE you will be very employable right out of college if you do reasonably well. With a Physics degree, your options will be much more limited. You will likely have to go for a MS/PhD and look for a job as a prof or try to land one of the limited research positions.

i agree.
And for really understanding physics, a BS is simply not enough. I’d say, not even close. It will just confuse you even more.
