Econ major... need some advice?

Hi all,

Currently I am an economics major finishing up my third semester. I really enjoy econ, but I'm starting to get worried that this major may not be the right choice for me. I recently found out that I made a C in intermediate microeconomics, and I also made a C in principles of micro two semesters ago. For some reason, micro really kicks my butt, although I made a high A in the one macroeconomics class I have taken thus far. I don't think it's the math that is an issue -- I just have trouble remembering a lot of the required formulas.

I don't really know how to explain the bad grades. I will say that I wasn't really satisfied with the professors I had for both of my micro classes for different reasons (my latest one's tests were absolutely brutal). I'm thinking I may as well give my intermediate macro class a shot next semester and if that turns out to be difficult, I should probably think about finding a new major? I really hate to do it, because as I said before, I really enjoy econ.

Does anyone have any advice?

What about Econ do you “love”? Examining this question may help in determining if you should stick with it (if the answer is something specific to econ), or if you can venture to other areas (if your answer isn’t specific to econ and can be applied to other areas of study).

If you love it, stick to it for the happiness I suppose.

Einstein failed Algebra twice (and didn’t learn to speak until way past his todler peers), but enjoyed doing it . . . and that took him pretty far, some would conclude.
