<p>Ive heard economics can be preferred by various graduate businness schools. They rather see someone with economics rather than a finance degree. Any thoughts on this. Particularly focus on NYU Stern vs. Columbia.</p>
<p>Either one is excellent (stern or columbia). On the MBA thing, That's not true-I'm sure Wharton or NYU Stern prefers a finance graduate from their school over a harvard english major...</p>
<p>I agree. I think eco is easier to get a job straight away. And since job experience is important if one wants to go for their mba, it's quite a bit more common.</p>

<p>Finance is all quantitative analysis so I think it would be better than econ or math.</p>
<p>NYU stern is number 1 in Finance. But looking at just the two degrees, i think economics is better, after college. Thats why i am going to study economics</p>
