<p>i'm not an econ major but i took an intro course for distribution. i hav lots of contacts (friends) in the department, so at least i can sort of try to talk about it.</p>
<p>i definitely recommend coming in with AP credit because the econ department introductories are generally pretty bad. but as you go along, the profs get better and so do the classes. i hear it's one of the easier majors at Rice, but that's sort of like a good thing. i encourage you to double major if you want to in stuff like managerial studies (i think it's similar to one of those prebiz tracks but not quite so), policy studies (esp if you're thinking about doing prelaw or something like that), or some other field you think you're interested in. lots of Rice's social science programs have been gaining ground recently. you should be able to have no problem finding something you like =D</p>
