Economics at Tufts University

How strong is the economics program at Tufts in comparison to other top schools. I hear good things about the program but they are never in the top rankings. Thanks.!!!

@indiansuperman -

The program is quite strong.

It is not included in the rankings because the rankings are for Phd programs and Tufts does not offer a Phd program in Economics.

Tufts does offer a master’s program in Quantitative Economics and a minor in Finance, with the finance courses being taught by a professor with industry experience (funded by alums from Wall St./Finance Industry).

There is also a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership offered by the Gordon Institute (a graduate school of Engineering Management) and undergrads can take graduate courses in international business at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Probably the best known alums are Jamie Dimon (CEO of JP Morgan) and Eugene Fama (2013 Nobel Prize winner in Economics who performed undergrad research in the same area that he won the Nobel)
