Which university offers better Economics program, Stanford or Yale?

Both good but I’d say Yale for econ and related job opportunities, Stanford is more known for the sciences

Often the best way to decide this is apply to both and let the schools make the decision for you ;)

I second Bagel’s view. Besides, you will not go wrong by going to either of the two!

Utterly ridiculous statement, and likely posted from a right-coaster. Both are academically excellent. If you want to go to The Street, then practically any top east coast school is better than any top west coast school (due to connections and geographics, not academics). OTOH, if you want to get into venture capital…

Just because Yale isn’t known for sciences doesn’t automatically mean it’s more known for econ. In fact, Yale’s econ is ranked lower.

Both are excellent, but Stanford does have a slightly more highly regarded Economics department.

Where do you want to work after graduation, east coast or west coast. that is what will matter, not how much better is one program over the other(unless of course your intentions are academia)

Stanford. They have better supporting areas like computer science, math and stats, etc.

The programs’ similar strengths are such that any decision between the schools should be based on other factors.

ok fine, Yale for wall street, stanford for venture capital. Since VC is mostly tech and wall street is mostly finance/econ…

Also, I’m actually from cali so…not a “right coaster”

Actually, historically Stanford has the better econ department. For whatever reason Yale econ is not considered on the same tier as Harvard’s, Princeton’s, MIT’s, Stanford’s, or Chicago’s. With that said, who really knows…I’m sure a student at either would do very, very well with pretty much no differences in the quality of job opportunities, all else equal.
