Hey everybody, how's it going. I'm a rising male senior from a public high school in New York. After 16 college visits, I have finally decided that Northwestern is my unequivocal first choice. I just love the location, the academics, the D-1 sports, everything. Anyway, in the past 5 years, at least, no one from my school has attended Northwestern, although there have been some applications. I am 99% sure I will be the only ED applicant to NU if that means anything. Anyway, here is a rundown of my stats.

SAT I: 800 CR 740 M 680 W (700 MC, 8 Essay) for a 1540/2220
SAT II: 800 USH 680 Math 1 670 Bio....I will be taking Lit in October and I am expecting 700+
AP's: 5 Psychology, 5 U.S. History, 5 English Language and Composition
GPA: ~ 94 UW, 97 W, school doesn't rank but if I had to say I'd put myself in the top 10%, tho perhaps not top 5%, of my class (~300 students)
Course Rigor: I had taken all honors courses in 9th and 10th grade. In 11th grade I took 3 AP Courses (Psychology, U.S. History, and English Language), Honors Calculus, and unfortunately I just missed the cutoff for honors physics and spanish. I am hoping this does not kill my application. For Senior Year, I am taking AP Human Geo, AP Euro, AP Lit, AP Calculus and AP Bio, in addition to required courses.
EC's: National Merit Commended, Student Leadership Award, Award for highest GPA in US History, 700+ Hours of Community Service, VP of NHS, VP of Economics Club, President/Co-Founder of a charitable organization which has raised thousands of dollars for our troops, and plain old membership in a couple of other clubs.

So...Can anyone give me some chances? I really do love NU and would also love to hear some advice from current students perhaps on what I should do between now and November 1st to maximize my chances of being admitted. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the response sahil patel...anyone else with chances/advice? I would really appreciate it if some current students could give me some advice with the application process. By the way, I will be applying to WCAS.

well ED is the way to go if you really want to go; their acceptance rate i think is above 50% for ed. That has something to do with self-selectivity but also ED helps your chances, and yours are already good.

i applied ED from a nyc public high school too (uh, and got in). your chances look great, even as a regular applicant, but if you're sure, definitely do ED as i hear it gives you a huge boost.

you had the highest GPA in US history? that ought to impress them. j/k. you should def apply, i was NYS pub school too, they don't get many of those. given how much you've kicked butt on US history, perhaps try reaching out to a prof and trying to impress the hell out of them? also, express an interest in history major/play to that strength in your app.

Thanks a lot everybody for all of your replies. And just for clarification, I had the highest GPA in the US History course, lol. Question. How exactly would I go about contacting a NU professor in the history department? E-mail, phone, personal visit? All help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance!

start with email...just visit the department homepage. maybe start with folks that team freshman seminars...a quick call to the department admin will tell you that.

Thank you everyone for all of your adivice...I am in a bit of a predicament right now, and I'm wondering if anyone could give me some guidance...Anyway, several days ago I registered to do Northwestern's online supplement to the common application. For reasons I do not feel like explaining I could not access my e-mail account for several days. When I finally could log on, I did not see the e-mail and figured that it was probably automatically deleted as old 'spam.' Anyways, I sent an e-mail to Northwestern asking if they could resend it to me. I got one of those automatic response things that said I would receive an answer within 2 business days. Anyways, I sent that e-mail on Saturday and still have not received a reply. Should I drop them another one? Maybe I'm just extremely neurotic, but I feel like my first e-mail was a little casual and borderline-humorous in the way I described my situation (using the word 'meltdown-of-sorts'). Anyway, could this e-mail possibly work against me? Do higher-ups actually read these things? Will I ever hear from Northwestern? AHHHHH. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you really dont need to fret over all of this shi*. I would call them and ask them to resend you the the supplement. And no, the higher ups, etc will not read or consider what has happened.
