lol i applied ED but i got the “Our records indicate”. However, im pretty sure we all have learned in stats of voluntary surveys. Thus, these changes which to many of you that think apparently “correspond” to the people that got deferred could just be a coincidence. We are talking about a very small fraction of those that applied ED to BU here on college credentials.
@jamz18 do u mind sharing your stats?
fk this xxxx, do we really need to care that much?
idk about you guys but i wasn’t planning on being this far up BU’s ass.
I wish we were finding out this friday ugh
UGHH I just want to know already I have mixed emotions about whether I’m getting in or not
Possible reason for “thank you/early decisions” VS “our records indicate” message on the admissions portal: Senior grades–They say it takes two weeks for the portal to update about senior grades so maybe they have received them but the portal hasn’t updated and that’s why the message is different
This is my full message, could someone with a “our records indicate” post their full message too? Maybe we can figure this out once and for all !!
Thank you for your application to the College of Communication as an Early Decision candidate for the September 2018 semester. You will be directed to check this page to see which credentials are not yet received.
Please note that all students are expected to submit senior year grades. If you have not already done so, please arrange for your counselor to send them as soon as they are available.
It is important that we have your current email and mailing address to be able to communicate with you regarding your application status. Please verify your contact information by clicking Applicant Address.

So, mine says “Thank you…Early Decision candidate…”. I also submitted my senior grades about a week and a half ago. I called them yesterday to confirm that they have my grades, and they said they did. My message still says “thank you”… so I don’t know if it relates to that. @budehfh
Mine says this:
Our records indicate that you have applied to the School of Education for the September 2018 semester. If this information is not correct, or if you would like to change the college or school of application, please call BU Admissions during regular business hours.
Our records currently indicate that your application for admission is complete. Please note that the status of your application file and the required credentials are only accurate to date.
Upon further evaluation, the Board of Admissions may determine that we need further information to complete your application file. If so, we will contact you in writing, or you may check our Web site at a later date. If you would like to discuss your application further, please call us at 617-353-2300 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and a member of our staff can answer any remaining questions that you may have.
@raspberry29 i emailed BU and confirmed that my senior grades were received and I have the thank you message with the senior grades
it makes sense why it might be true that “thank you/early decision” means acceptance and “our records indicate” means deferral when looking at the whole message-- the “our records indicate” says “Upon further evaluation, the Board of Admissions may determine that we need further information to complete your application file.” which is typically the reason for deferral. but don’t take my word this is just my guess off of what I’ve seen!
like i said, it also just might be a glitch due to the admissions portal not reflecting that students have sent in their senior grades even though they did–the main difference is “thank you” asks for senior grades still and “our records” says app is complete
But would they really keep a glitch in the system for multiple years??? This double message thing has been the case for past graduating classes. I don’t know what the messages’ significance is, but I think there has to be something if they have kept them for multiple years.
If “Thank you” means you got accepted and “Our Records” means you got deferred, then what does rejected say? Im confused.
@budehfh unlikely. before you submit the grades there’s a hyperlink in the portal asking for them. if they’ve received them but the system doesn’t show it, why wouldn’t the link still be there?
Hi, just wanted to say for anyone tracking this, that my D’s portal used to say "Our records " ( see post #70), but now it says “Thank you. …” She is an RD candidate.
@lacollege I have a 3.6 unweighted and a 1410 sat
@Winky1 hmm… This makes me think that it actually might be unrelated to acceptance. Thanks for the info.
@Joezzzzz I applied to Fordham too (EA)
I guess we will just see when decisions come out!
