ED class of 2020

Does anyone know exactly how easy/hard it is to switch from one of the 5 schools within WashU? If I’m interested in Bio but then later want to do engineering, I would have to switch out of the Arts and Sciences school.

@hellokitty679 Current student here, it’s ridiculously easy, really just consists of clicking a button online. At most you just talk to your advisor for a couple minutes and you’re good to go.

@srivapau I was wondering if you sent in the additional statement with your app when u applied. I’m thinking of doing that and was hoping it would help my app. Also, I got a 770 in Math L2 and a 680 in Bio and was wondering if I should also send in my bio score or not. Thx for the help!

@hellokitty679 What additional statement? Do you mean the “Additional Information” section of the common app?

yes @bachtobach thats what i meant

Oh, what were you thinking of writing in that section? I simply explained in a couple of sentences what my “Gifted Mentorship” was since it would be listed on my transcript. But that was about it. I’ve submitted my application already

@bachtobach ya i also just wanted to further explain how band has influenced me, since it is also written as one of my activities

I would say to just go for it then, as long as it isn’t already mentioned in your essay.

How do we submit mid-year grades for ED? Will that just be included in the counselor Optional Report?

@ForwardAlways Yeah. It’s a part of the Optional Report.

so do we just have to mail that in or is it an online process?

Online.

Can you apply to other early action schools if you apply ED to WashU? Public schools that aren’t my state

yes for sure. as long as its non binding.

You don’t apply to a specific school, you apply to the University as a whole

Academics:
I’m trying to graduate (basically) in three years. After foreign exchange, my school couldn’t accept any of the work I’d done there, so I had a choice between doing IB and graduating a year late, or dropping it and taking a more than full schedule to graduate with my class. I chose the latter. I still took the prep courses I had missed my sophomore year because they’re super interesting, but now I’m in the AP track.

Currently, I’m taking APUSH, AP Macro Economics, AP Lang/Comp, AP German, AP Psych, Differentiated Chemistry, and Differentiated Pre-Calc. I’m also taking AP Lit/Comp through an online program. Additionally, Student Council is considered a class at my school.

I have recommendations from my 9th Grade English teacher and my 11th grade social studies teacher. I’m also considering asking the director of the Nebraska Human Resources Institute.

I’m applying as an intended Poli Sci or Global Health (anthro) major. WashU really is my top school and I’ve been good on the engagement level. My mom even went to an info session at my school for me when I was out of town, and I just emailed my admissions rep a few minutes ago.

Prognosis?

@Josie1 Actually you do apply to a specific school…

Hahaha yeah you apply to a specific school @Josie1 The only reason I’m worried is because Olin is such a top ranked undergrad business school (#5) and its SAT M+CR avg. is so damn high (1480).

As for your chances, I think the only thing that sticks out badly are your test scores, but everything else seems rock solid. Your activities fit your intended major greatly, which will no doubt help you a lot! Yup, you definitely have a good shot with those EC’s and that you’re applying ED. Have you shown a lot of interest (i.e. visiting, interviewing, etc.)? If not, I don’t think it’ll hurt you too much either because once again, you’re applying ED, which is the ultimate form of interest.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck! Hope we both receive good news in December!

@ForwardAlways Thanks for the opinion! I did visit and interview, but it was just with a student. Good luck to you, too!

did you guys send your ED commitment form through an email or through mail?
