ED deferral (sorry new kids) count-down

i'm not a lurker....i guess i didn't want to see this board too much after my deferral...it's sort of like how i didn't watch any new for a couple months after the election...big let downs both.

1 week = 7 days

yeah, but March = 8 years as far as I'm concerned lol

i think i want to reach 1000 exactly on that day

6 daysss.............

this is crazy... SO soon

5 days..fellow deferrees!

4 days, i believe. are all of you sure that the decision will be posted this thursday at 5 p.m.? did you get any notification from penn? i didnt. this is scary.

Yeah it will be. On the original letter from the ED Round, it says that RD decisions will be posted March 31 at 5 Pm. Btw, do you know approximately how many people were deferred from ED?

they deferred a third, accepted a third, rejected a third...so if they accepted what amounts to half the class, like...1150, then it follows they deferred about 1150

Ugh, this wait is killing me...

Two waiting periods in one year from Penn takes it outta ya

I'd be interested to know what you guys did after deferral. Did anyone write a string of letters or call (harass) their admissions officers?

I actually wrote a very brief letter to the Dean(my regional guy still reads it I presume), saying that its still my 1st choice. Then, I got another one of my teachers to write a rec, I had my guidance counselor call up the office and tell them again that I am still interested. Then I did my part and got all As in 5 AP classes. Hopefully, this will translate into acceptance.

My guidance counselor wrote a letter giving updates on grades (it was midterm then) and also saying how much I wanted to go and that if I was accepted, I would definitely matriculate. I also wrote a letter saying it still remained my top choice, and I updated them on awards and activities (like starting a club!). Um.. I also wrote this short business paper thingy (cuz I applied wharton).. dunno if it helped, but my dad definitely urged me to write it. It couldn't hurt... could it? Oh well, we'll see.

Hey everyone. This is my first post, actually. I was deferred from Wharton and I'm anxiously awaiting Thursday's update :)

I did send some stuff along with my mid-year report. I wrote a brief letter reinforcing my commitment to the school, and updating some stuff (I had made DECA states, my internship was progressing, etc.). I also attached an additional rec letter, actually written by one of my best friends for my Duke app (I thought it would be interesting... it might end up sinking me though, since it's a little offbeat). And even though a decision was already probably made, two weeks ago I sent another letter just informing that I had made DECA nationals and placed first in state.

So yeah, I'm pretty desperate, but not expecting much since Wharton is so ridiculously competetive. This seems like an awesome group, and I like these forums, even though the loading can get annoying at times. Good luck to everyone on Thursday.

3 more to go...

48 hours, 21 minutes

don't you wish they'd get rid of the deferral letter?

1 day plus a little more....
