I heard they tend to look at Indian applicants more closely and defer them during ED because they want to get a full idea of the applicant pool from India. Then again, this is only what my counsellor told me.

I heard they tend to look at Indian applicants more closely and defer them during ED because they want to get a full idea of the applicant pool from India. Then again, this is only what my counsellor told me.

The key here being – “This is only what my counselor told me.”
As I said, a counselor told me the exact same thing about ED colleges. Now we need to learn two things:
A) The source of PrincetonDream’s information
B) How credible is any counselor’s given information.

Lol,the counsellor was from USIEF,the most reliable place to go for info on education in the US.
Every second Indian is applying to Cornell and Yale.I think I’ve mentioned this before.

But you should go ahead with Cornell if that unequivocally your first choice and you really cannot envision yourself anywhere else. You shouldn’t be listening to advice on the contrary, just go ED where you really want to.ED is one of the best opportunities to get in as the acceptance rate isn’t just higher just like that, the school knows that you’re commited/bound to it once it accepts you and they want students accepted to actually attend.Plus you dont require aid for Cornell right?
It’s a great place.Only really cold!

Bluebox-The TATA scholarship covers the expenses of around 20 students. Not many more.

I think I am going to take your advice. I am going to work on my apps at my own pace since I have the subject tests to prepare for too, and if my apps are completed on time, I’ll send them for ED consideration. If they aren’t great, I’ll rather put in 2 more months of work into them before sending them out. ARGH! Cornell’s ED acceptance rate is SOOOO tempting. Are you sure that every 2nd Indian applies to yale and cornell? I know you mean it figuratively, but still?

A misconception about the TATA Scholarship is that every year 25 people get it. That’s incorrect since the scholarship is awarded to 25 people at a time in college. Meaning: The number ‘25’ includes 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students. Approximately, 6-7 freshmen get the scholarship.

Post script: I heard different things about USIEF :P

Post-post script: One question,why do you write like this?I don’t get it.It’s an interesting idiosyncray,though. :)

^ That and my counsellor and a post by Redroses not too long ago in which she talked about yearly Financial Aid budgets and how they get exhausted as the application cycle progresses.

Just my 0.02. I am sure there are opposing opinions that are probably more credible.

Isn’t it strange then that most people would advise you to not apply ED if you need aid?
Thanks for the link PrincetonDreams. :)

I think,I was cribbing about USIEF myself the other day.But the main Counsellor I met only the day before yesterday, and I quite liked her.

Write like what?

The Counsellor told me that about Yale. She said,“Every second person who comes here is applying to Yale”.
And the temptation of the Cornell acceptance rate attracts everyone. Not to mention the fact that C takes the maximum number of students from India out of all the Ivies. It is my opinion only when I said that but Im fairly sure that it shall prove to be correct if I care to verify my claim.

PrincetonDreams-Thanks for the link!I sure hope that’s true for the schools I apply ED/EA)and not for my RD colleges ;)

You don’t add space after your punctuation marks. :)

Oh,I never noticed. oops

Hi itsmylife99!
I have nothing to do so I came on your thread to tell you that this putting-spaces-after-punctuation-marks thing is tiresome.
I’ll be glad to be rid of it once I’m accepted wherever I’m going to be accepted.

LOL.
It might be tiresome for you, but for me it’s the only way of typing. I can’t imagine any other way to do so. I don’t know… Do you ever feel you can know the person just by seeing how he/she types?

I’m going to the store to buy some whipped cream, and some peanuts.
Im goin to d store 2 buy sm whipd cream n sm peanuts

Oh oh oh! I have an awesome idea for your essay! Write it on how you started adding spaces after punctuations when someone pointed it out.
It shows:
A) Sensitivity toward aesthetics.
B) Determination
C) Ability to adapt (a representation of your will to assimilate)

Something’s seriously wrong with me. I’m thinking of essay topics all the time! :|

Who isn’t? :P

^ Point conceded.
