ED vs. RD finaid

for schools with need-blind admission, does the finaid pacakage differ for ED and RD accepted applicants?

thanks

well u'll be FORCED TO ACCEPT THE ED offer....I'd go for it if i were u and though that ur chances for get in were low...

while to may get the same package ED as you would for RD, for ED you give up the opportunity to compare offers. Daughter applied RD, still got in to her top choice was able to compare packages, ask fora financial review which brought in over $8000 in savings.

well i know you cannot compare offers and have to accept it, but i'm saying when college finaid committee reviews it, based on need-blind policy, it shouldn't matter if you are RD or ED, right?

No it should not but it is often does. Never apply for ED if you need to compare packages and you are not sure how your family will swing that college bill. It is just not worth it. Even if your EFC is low need blind 100% need met school can give you
majority of help in loans and you will not be able to go to this school anyway.
Only few Ivy school have policy to give grants only if you low income family.

for the loans they give you, it's guaranteed that you can loan it from someplace right?

keep in mind that all need based aid is not created equally. A school could basically extend your parents a loan for the full cost of attendance and they will have still met your need,

From a student perspective you will most likely get a stafford loan (either subsidized or unsubsidized) you amy also get a perkins loan as part of your package.
