@OldbatesieDoc you seem to know a lot about this school, is this true?

Perhaps the RD pool was more competitive than the ED2 pool?

I would agree with the person above me that it comes down to competitiveness. In RD, there are definitely some people applying who want to go to Princeton or Yale and are applying to Middlebury as more of a likely, whereas in ED2 you are more likely to get the people who are applying to Middlebury as a reach and its their first choice. My guess is that an identical candidate would definitely have a better shot in ED2, but the average ED2 applicant is less qualified than a RD applicant.

With ED2 there are many applicants who got deferred or denied at ivys, williams etc ED1 and now are applying to other top tier schools and hoping for any edge that might get them accepted. With 49% of the class of 2020 being accepted ED1 any edge is helpful
If you look at the numbers I think like the RD acceptance went down to like 12 or 13 percent.
You are right, there definitely is not a large boost as there really cannot be since half the class was already filled by ED1
I think their website says usually about 300 applicants ED2. So that is like 45/50 acceptances. Some of those are athletes that did not get into their ED1 school so it is tough to get in ED2 but still a better chance than RD
