I just found out on Saturday that I was accepted ED to Swarthmore (very shocked and very happy!). However, I haven't received my financial aid package yet. Is it okay if I wait to withdraw my other applications until after I receive the package, just to be sure I can attend (I don't think there will be a problem, but I want to be absolutely sure)? Or do I run the risk of violating the ED agreement if I wait that long?

The one reason you don’t have to commit when you do ED is if the Financial Aid does not work for you. Until you have been notified about your package, there should be no need to withdraw your applications. But to just feel totally sure, you can contact the Admissions Office. I am sure they will give you advice. You certainly do not want to withdraw anything until you see your package.

Good luck!

Agree with GvaMom. There was a student in this year’s Swat EDI pool who did not have his package, and hadn’t done much on other applications. He was shocked when his package arrived to find that it was not sufficient (at least in his family’s view), and he had to scramble to apply elsewhere before deadlines that were just a couple of days away. Contact the admissions office, but if I were you I would NOT withdraw other apps until you see the Swat FA package.

You are not reqd. to withdraw any apps. until you decide if FA pkg works for you.

If you were admitted EDII, you have to enroll at Swarthmore or formally give up your admission spot by Thursday, February 21, your reply deadline.

If you have not received a financial aid decision, perhaps your aid application wasn’t completed? Check with the financial aid office to see what information is missing–right away!

However, Swat will probably give an extention on that 2/21 date if the aid package is not complete (if the OP asks). But you need to communicate with them, that is the key.

I was e-mailed my financial aid package today, and I just mailed the enrollment check. Thank you for the help!

coffeeisgood,
Congrats! Glad it worked out for you!
