<p>I will be editor-in-chief of our school paper next year.. and we are going to be having our summer editors bonding activity soon. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve or create a better overall supportive staff?</p>
<p>What things have worked for you and what things havent? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!</p>
<p>Though I have no experience with newspapers, we did this with my literary magazine and it seemed to work:</p>
<p>We had a picnic where everyone brought in some share-able food and an part of a poem or short story they really liked, and we went around in a circle and read aloud and it helped us realize what sort of stuff we wanted to write and publish that year. Also, we got to know more about the other people in the club AND there was some delicious ethnic food.</p>
<p>I guess you could do a similar thing with articles? And maybe talk about what sorts of issues you want to report on more, etc?</p>

<p>We've had out share of bad editor-in-chiefs, and I just have to say that you should always stay organized
It's fun to be spontaneous and all, but your staff will eventually get ****ed off if you call them the day before to plan it out
But once you get the planning stuff out of the way, I'd suggest going laser-tagging/paintballing. In my experience, it's worked really well, and is fairly easy to organize
Potlucks are good too, but they are harder to plan.</p>
