Education Consultants?

I'm a little late in starting out with the application process, so everything is going to be pretty rushed. I'm currently a sophomore at a public high school in Washington State and I'm still considering repeating 10th grade, but both my parents are against it, so I don't think I will.

Because it's pretty late in the process, junior year's the most important and I don't have any past experience in applying to schools I've been looking online extensively this past week for any information that might help. There's an overwhelming choice of schools and since neither of my parents are helping out very much I'm looking at the idea of hiring an education consultant. Money is a problem though, I'll be applying pretty heavily for financial aid, but are education consultants really worth it? I've been reading alot of things all over the internet saying how it's virtually impossible to get into one of the better boarding schools without hiring an education consultant. What are your thoughts and comments on this?

Thanks beforehand!

Educational consultants can be very helpful in this process but your first order of business should be to get at least one parent on board. You won’t get very far with the schools if they sense a lack of parental support. Good luck to you!
