Just wondering how much EEs are used in theme parks...I know MEs are used a lot but yea

What's with all these EE questions... I'm pretty sure anywhere you see a lot of electricity used, some kind of Electrical Engineer was employed to make it work.

Roller coasters are typically designed by structural engineers, FYI...

Not that there are a whole lot of companies around anymore that can solely subsist on coaster design, since that market kinda tanked around the time of the dot-com crash, but whatev.

Go to the job postings by those companies (Disney, etc.) and see what they're looking for.

Example of EEs in themed entertainment projects...

The Fantastical Engineer: A Thrillseeker's Guide to Careers in Theme Park Engineering by Celeste Baine

Unfortunately, UCs_dad, the ones who make the Disney rides are called Disney Imagineers, and the waiting list for that career path is longer than the line for Space Mountain on a sunny, 70-degree SoCal Saturday in July... You're "encouraged to submit resumes", but they more or less fall into a bottomless pit. Disney Imagineering doesn't have "open positions".

My resume's in that bottomless pit, somewhere... It ain't lonely.

Much like demolitions engineering (like, the really awesome building-implosion kind...), theme park engineering is something that requires 30% being-the-best-in-your-field and 70% luck. Being named Loizeaux (for demo) or Disney also helps.

I'd say good luck, but then I'd have to arm wrestle you for the spot that I want. ;)

My old adviser was a Director of the Imagineering program...

I feel like a nerd.

wow thanks for all the feedback..it sure sounds like a tough field to land a career in
