Hmm… interesting. I also got a likely, and also read that the official result comes out in march, but there’s no mention of visiting on campus weekend in april in the online letter.

what do you guys make of this?
so there are two versions?
im international— could that be it? that campus visit in april is for domestic only?
or what do you think?

I recieved a likely desicion, which has made me overjoyed. I really thought I was at the bottom of the pile. (4.1 with huge grade inflation and 30 ACT with some leadership and work experience) Maybe the alumni connection(an aunt and cousin) and my AP Lang teacher nominated me for their book award really boosted it. I think my essay was solid, just because I talked about how much pain essay writing causes me. (ironic, no?)
I was also lucky that a girl from my HS knew my interviewer, so I was able to mention that.
What this really did for me is tell me that I’m not a worthless applicant, which had only fed my senioritis. But then I realized that no one is a worthless applicant. We are all worth a huge amount to a college. You will find that college.
My letter online did talk about visiting April 21/22nd. SO I guess there are two forms.
This is definetely not an acceptance letter though. They could always reject or defer. This is really just a way to relieve stress, to tell you where you stand. I thought their desicions came out in April/Late March.
To everyone who got a probable or unlikely. You deserve a college that loves you. I hope you find it and are accepted, Wellesley or not.

After getting a likely, I received a handwritten complementary note from an (my?) admissions rep in the mail today. It was pretty generic sounding though. Does anyone know if they send this to everyone (which I kind of suspect, given the wording)?

“Congratulations on your positive early evaluation! Your academic record was impressive and your essay about exploring religion was one of the best I’ve read this year–thought provoking and reflective. You have so much to offer.”

And then some stuff about Spring Open Campus, etc.

I assume everyone got it, with a bit of personalization.

I haven’t gotten anything. Perhaps today, that would be cool I got personal notes from Smith and L&C when I got in there, it’s so nice to make the application more personal.

Wellesley sent a letter to my parents with the Wellesley/Harvard alumna’s reflection essay attached, but nothing for me yet. I wonder if everyone gets the handwritten note. I hope I do.
It’s been so quiet here lately. How’s the agonizing wait for college decisions, everyone?!

Yeah, they sent me a handwritten note as well, which I was very flattered by. And yesterday my parents got that letter with reflection essay~

So far, I’ve been admitted or liklied(really only for Wellesley) to everywhere I applied… so many more to hear from and the wait is so terribly agonizing!

I’ve got a countdown widget going for my Brown decision (24 days to the hour) but really now that I’m into Wellesley and Smith (and 3 others that I am no longer really considering) I could be rejected from the 5 others I’m waiting on and still be super happy with my college prospects. Just between those two, it will already be a super hard decision. The next few weeks are really busy for me which is good because it will keep my mind off of other college stuff.

peachesncream- that’s great! fingers crossed for all your other schools.
kenzie- I know what you mean about smith and wellesley; I don’t quite have the option of choosing between them yet but if I do it’ll be a hard decision. smith seems so quirky and i love the house system. good luck on brown!

I didn’t apply for any ivy leagues, but now I’m wishing I had just to see if I could get in… but I’m rather content with Wellesley, anyway. I can’t wait for SoC, do you think you two will be going?
I’m also swamped with work this month. It’s second semester, I don’t know why there’s so much to do! Haha

That was an intense letter they sent to the parents of “likely’s”… The flattery is just fabulous! It was a little heavy on the specific information, but it was interesting hearing about a student’s perspective on her experience.

As for that intense letter that was sent to all of the parents, what were your on??
Wellesley sent my parents one of the voice of a graduated bio major who went off to med school and used all of her knowledge and experience fom a libartsedu. to succeed and is now in a pediatric residency~

Ok, I will admit to lurking on this thread for quite awhile as I applied EE and then waited for my letter. I got a “likely”, which made me VERY, VERY happy—but now as I read about these hand-written notes to students and letters to parents, I’m getting nervous again! Is everyone getting a personal letter, or just those that wrote really kick-ass essays? (mine were fine, but not fantastic) Or was my “likely” a mistake!! :-(
