ee to me?

hi, i'm a hs senior that has been accepted into the electrical engineering major, which was my alternate choice to mechanical engineering. i had a feeling that i would want to stick with ME when i applied, and now that i'm getting back into the physics of electricity in class, i feel that ME is still the way to go. electricity, while manageable, isn't nearly as enjoyable as plain mechanics was at the beginning of the year. with mechanics, the ability to visualize is huge, while the abstractness of electricity isn't too much fun.

should i try to change my major from EE to ME? how should i go about that, specifically at uiuc?

thanks

You cannot change majors until after first year at the earliest. You would apply for that change about midway into your second semester freshman year. A change is not guaranteed as it will depend on grades you already have in freshman year and the number of seats open in ME at time you seek change.

You can’t officially change your major until the next year, like drusba said. However, you will be able to choose the appropriate classes as if you were a ME during summer registration.
