does anybody know of any that are really accurate ? different calculators give me different EFC's even when i enter the same #s

Different EFC (determined solely by the federal formula, so it should be the same for all schools) or different amounts you need to come up with (which can and will vary widely) ? Most schools do not meet need, so the EFC does not represent your true family contribution.

If in doubt, use the EFC calculator on the FAFSA website.

Annasdad is right.

And, since most schools don’t meet need, finding your EFC isn’t going to tell you much about any aid you might get.

Use the Net Price Calculators on each school’s website. For instance, I know that you’re OOS for WVU, one of your fav schools. Use their NPC to find out what aid you’d qualify for. Keep in mind that even if you’re given instate rates because of your nearby county, that doesn’t mean that you’d get any WV state aid that would be offered to instate students.

The term EFC is misleading. It does NOT really mean that it provides that amount that your parents are supposed to pay. It only determines federal aid, which isn’t much.
