However my little sister is going to apply because she is graduating high school and will begin county college this Fall, my mother also is going to apply for FAFSA because she wants to go back to school full time this coming fall and prolly go to the same county college my sister will be going to as well. I put in the FAFSA application there will be 3 people attending college for the 2009-2010 year. However, I heard once your sibling or other people in your household apply for aid that they lower your EFC...

Without putting that my sister or mother where gonna be in school, I earlier used a EFC calculator and got around the same amount for efc...have they applied the other people to lower the EFC yet? Or do i first have to do the FAFSA apps for my sister and mother, and have them actually get admitted to the county college before hte EFC will change?

The EFC is already reduced to reflect the number in college. However you are not allowed to put a parent down on your FAFSA as one of the number going to college. Your mother can put you and your sister on her FAFSA. You and your sister cannot include her on your FAFSAs. You will need to make a correction to your FAFSA and change the number in college to 2.

76. Number of college students in parents' household. Enter the number of people from the parents' household (in question 75) who are or will be enrolled in a postsecondary school in 2009-10. Count yourself as a college student. Include others only if they will be attending at least half time in an approved program during 2009-2010 that leads to a degree or certificate at a postsecondary school eligible to participate in any of the federal student aid programs.

Do not include your parents. Also do not include a student at a U.S. military academy because the family is not expected to contribute to that student's postsecondary educational cost at the academy.

Damn ok then I will have to change it, so my mother going back to school will have no effect on my financial aid or efc?

No it won't. If you already included her on your FAFSA then the EFC you have will increase.
