EFC vs. Actual FC

My mother filed the FAFSA last night, and it gave us a preliminary EFC, a prediction I guess, until all the paperwork is analyzed and I get a SAR. I was wondering how similar the FC composed by Vassar is to the FAFSA EFC. I know Vassar takes into account the CSS profile as well, and I just wanted to know if anyone could grant some insight on their formula. Does the FC reflect more the FAFSA prediction, the CSS prediction, or something entirely different?

Just wondering...!
Thanks...

We did ED1, and our Fin Aid package was more generous than the EFC, at least by how we calculated it on college board. Vassar gives great financial aid, if you ask us!!

Sounds like I should be optimistic then! Thanks for the comment...

My D applied ED last year and was accepted. About a week later the the financial aid package came in the mail and it was very, very generous. It included scholarship, work study and loans. The financial aid awarded by Vassar was more than the the FAFSA and College Board EFC calculations. Good luck.

Aside from FAFSA, what other forms are required? Like 1040s, W2s, schedules, etc? Thanks in advance...

Copies of 1040's with W-2s are needed to verify the FASFA.

Thanks, I really appreciate it.

No other schedules, like itemized deductions are required?

I sent entire copy of tax return with schedules.

My understanding is that Vassar wants everything--wages, schedules, w2s, 1099s--from 07 tax forms as soon as they are available. Plus Business and farm supplement and so forth...They require more than any other college my S has applied to. Check here:

Vassar College Admissions

actually, when I rethink, the only additional thing Vassar wanted was 2006 tax forms, I guess to get the ball rolling before 07 stuff became available.

Thank you...this is what I needed to know...
