Effect of applying for financial aid at need-aware schools

Hello.

Several of the schools I am applying to that, while they meet 100% of need, are need aware. (Notably Colorado College, Reed College, and Carleton College). Albeit having a slightly lower GPA (3.68 UW) the rest of my application is good for most of these schools. However, I have significant financial need. Colorado College's net price calculator gave me an affordable number, but it is still 48k in grants. How badly will applying for financial aid affect me admissions-wise at need-aware schools? (Not looking for chances, just generalized answers)

Thanks

For these schools probably 50 percent to 60 percent of admitted students will apply for and receive some amount of financial need. I wouldn’t worry that your need is high. I would worry about the 3.7 uw gpa but at this point it is out of your control. Good luck

I would look at the average aid from the Common Data Set for each school. If your need is much higher than that I might be concerned.
