Does anyone have any thoughts about the Elements of Computing certificate? If it matters, I plan on getting the certificate from UT itself (so that it'll appear on my transcript), not from the CS department.

I asked this same question about a ten days ago and got no responses. If anyone is familiar with this, I would love to hear some feedback. Any CS majors have an opinion on those classes?

I think it depends on what you want to do. I think it serves as a reasonable introduction to computing, especially if you have not had any classes in it before. However, it is certainly not as rigorous as the normal CS classes and is possible to skate by on all the easiest classes offered. However, if you already have some background in CS and want to pursue that route, you should consider taking the CS major classes.

This of course depends on your own personal circumstances, and they recently switched to Python instead of Java from the intro classes. I just noticed this thread is a year old, so you two may not get this message.
