Submitted my app a few days ago. I know that the website says within three weeks, but from peoples' experiences, how long does it take for the email to come?

Two to three weeks.

All Admissions Offices, not just Yale’s, are people driven. Usually, the first person that “sees” your application is a student who is working in the Admissions Office. After you press the submit button, they generally are the ones who track down and collect all the bits and pieces of your application (the application itself, essays, teacher recommendations, guidance counselor’s Secondary School Report, high school profile and test scores). They put together your file – whether that’s electronically or on paper (and sometimes both) – and then send it to the head file room clerk, who checks it over before forwarding it to an Admissions Officer. As the process is not automated, it takes time, so give it two to three weeks.
