Eli Broad (Business College) Question

Hello all,

Well, the semester is over at my community college and I was accepted to MSU a month or so back.

As of right now I"m planning everything and put my deposit down for classes.

I couldn't get into the Business college, and rightfully so, as I was currently Econ 102 and Acc 102.

Well, because my partner in Econ dropped the class, didn't tell me, and didnt bring in the presentation worth 20% of our grade, I got a very poor grade on the project which brought my final grade to a B-, or 82.8% or GPA for the class of a 2.7.

Eli Broad guidelines for acceptance, are that you must have at least a 3.0 in each of the following, with a 3.2 GPA overall with the classes.

Acc 101 - Final grade is a 3.7
Acc 102 - 3.7
Econ 101 - 3.7
Econ 102 - 2.7
CIS (computers) - 4.0

My question is, am I going to have to retake Econ, and delay entrance for another year, just because of this one class?

I can get a written letter of reccomendation from faculty members, business ones specifically, because I'm working with the Business department to help develop the entrepreneur program at our local college, as I have experience because I own my own business.

What can I do? What should I do? I can not believe this one bad class is going to completely, and excuse my language, **** me over.

I dont know where you got those numbers from, this is from the website:
“To be considered for admission into a major in MSU’s Eli Broad College of Business, students with 56 or more transferable credits must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.4 (3.5 for accounting majors), a 3.2 GPA in the prerequisite courses, and no grade below a 2.0 in any individual prerequisite course.”

I’m applying as a transfer student from UCF
3.3 from those 5 prereq courses
3.4 overall gpa
60 credits

What do you think are my chances? I’m not sure why you didn’t get into the business college, did they state the reason why?
