Eli Whitney Program 2020 Thread

I hope all of your interviews went well… will be biting my nails for the next two weeks.

Hello all.

I was also offered an interview.

As a current holder of four rejection letters for 2020 transfer (Batting 100 so far!) this opportunity is beginning to feel very heavy.

I am here to share in the collective angst. May Yale let the best of us in and may those who get in make the most of it! Cheers!

I’m right there with you and feel your pain and anxiety. I applied to ten schools for transfer in 2019—nine rejections (including Yale) and one waitlist at Princeton (but was never admitted). Round #2 in 2020: 8 schools, 6 rejections thus far. I’m crossing my fingers for Yale, as that is my top choice and my only hope at this point. It feels devastating and confusing to be waitlisted at Princeton, interviewed at Yale, and rejected from the University of Florida (my state school). To say the least, the college admissions process is simply absurd. Haha! Good luck to you and remember that being offered an interview means you stood out to them as someone who was qualified to attend. All the best!

I agree- completely anxiety inducing. The application process is easy compared to the stress of waiting!

I also got rejected from Harvard, Princeton, and Cornell and Waitlisted at NYU. I got into Columbia GS but it seems like that’s pretty easy to get into… I didn’t see a single person on that board say they got rejected. But it’s super expensive, really pathetic financial aid.

It seems like it’s a matter of getting the right application in front of the right person who will connect with you on some level and advocate for your admission.

Wishing all of you good vibes and hoping they accept a large number of us! I saw that a recent year (2018?) they accepted 13!

Anxiously waiting here as well. I wonder if Yale will accept more or less EWSP students this year. It seems for the past couple of years they have been increasing their freshman class. Not sure how the COVID situation factors in either. My guess is they admit about half of those offered interviews?

Has anyone heard or asked about a decision date yet?

I received an email the day after my interview saying that we would hear a decision by the 18th of May…

During my interview, I asked the lovely woman who interviewed me approximately how many students they accept to EWSP each year - she said around a dozen.

Crossing my fingers and thinking positive thoughts for all of us!

Any updates from anyone?

I haven’t heard anything since the May 1st email ??

I’m hoping we hear back today or tomorrow

@zuluzulu what are your stats? Just curious about everyone else on here and you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.

The anticipation/suspense is killing me!

Hopefully we will all hear today! If not Monday is the day… At least everyone’s courses should be over so it’s a bit less stressful.

Good luck everyone!

I hope we hear today too. @brooklyngal16 I’ll share my stats once we get decisions!

Hey guys…I’m so glad I’m not the only one freaking out about decisions coming out…I had my interview on the 28th and I’ve been dying ever since…I wish you all the best!!?:star:

I wish you @picadilly4123 and all the best too! There is a lot of excitement and nervousness flowing through me so you aren’t alone.

Rejected.

Rejected by 8 out of 9 of the places I applied so far. That includes my state school (UVA) and my safety school. There is one left but it’s highly unlikely I am accepted there. Looks like another year at community college.

I wish you all the best of luck. I have a lot of thinking to do this weekend. Thanks for all the well wishing and advice.

Rejected :frowning:

Zwetsch Im thinking about you. Hope you don’t have to suffer the same fate two years in a row. Fingers crossed for you.

@IdSayUVA Sadly, I’m rejected as well. I feel your pain. I went through exactly what you’re going through last year. I have one more school to hear from otherwise my road to research and academia may end here. I think age may play a strong part in the admissions process, so programs like Eli Whitney felt like my only hope. Where else did you apply? Fortunately, I’m a full-time musician and, as much as I was hoping to leave that world, it’s not a bad one to be stuck in. You’re back at community college for another year, yeah?
