haha yeah...it's a busy week for me. FORTUNATELY I got an extension on a paper due monday because I'll be in elon. I'm usually online late at night, but if I'm away just drop me a message.

Do you guys think jeans and a sweater would be ok to wear friday? I have like, one pair of khakis and they're reserved for saturday...lol.

i think that those will be fine, especially since we aren't really doing much on friday until the reception.

for me this week is great, because yesterday we got out early because of snow, today was a snow day, then i have classes tomorrow, and leave thursday for the 10+ hour drive down there. should be a good time...

Woo I am so excited!! I'd love to meet you guys! I guess send me a PM if you have any plans or something or if you want to get my IM s/n! (Edit- I just put it on here) Yeah, this is great, because last week we had Monday off, then had snow days Thurs-Fri, then had a snow day yesterday and two-hr delay today, and then I'm leaving Friday morning! :D 3 days til I'm back in good ol' NC!

Good ol' NC has not seen a drop of snow, atleast in CLT, so I have been enjoying myself in school this week. Enjoying myself with a spanish project, 70 pages of government to read and outline, and 100 pages of a book to read and journal.

Fortunately only a 2 hour drive for me...so I'm leaving here around noon friday.

Let's definitely all IM and get something together!

Cool, I'm in Charlotte too! What school do you go to?

Weddington, in union county. What about you?

Independence (technically a part of charlotte, but really in Mint Hill).

Well I had SUCH an amazing time!!!!! My favorite part was Friday night...I don't think any of you went for Journalism fellows, but they were SO INCREDIBLY nice...the faculty, the fellows, everyone was AMAZING. At least two members of the fellows board knew exactly who I was, where I was from, what my stats were, and what my essay was about the moment I walked up to them. It was truly so amazing...they made me feel so important and they weren't fake or distant nice at all. I loved the weather (even the rain), loved the campus even more this time, loved everything! I got to meet some very nice people, even if I didn't get to meet you guys. I could go on and on and on...my seminar was so interesting (Rock and roll! Bwahah) and everything went really well and I am 99% sure I am going there. I love it, I love it. I hope you guys had just as great a time as I did!!! :-D

I had an awesome time! Same experience with the faculty just knowing you. I was actually stopped by the head of the Math and Science fellows saying "Samantha, you're my only math major here," and he said he read my essay and whatnot which was awesome. My seminar was pretty awesome...the professor was great, and the entire concept just made you think (seminar 1). The weekend definitely bumped Elon up on my list!

Aw, man...YOU got the rock and roll one! I wanted that one so badly...I was stuck in the work and family one - it was all right but not exactly that riveting or anything.

I couldn't be there Friday night (I had practice and a team "bonding dinner" afterward), but I guess maybe I should've been. :

i had such a great time also...i had seminar 8 on children's play and cultures. i am definitely viewing elon in a whole new light these days. i got stung on the way into my interview building like 2 minutes before my interview so i was gritting my teeth through it with a swollen middle finger, but Dr. Das was awesome and I really enjoyed talking to her. the fellows i met that are already at elon were quite amazing also. everyone was so friendly, i had random elon students just come up and say hi to me when i was eating lunch, i <3 the atmosphere. i hope everyone had as positive an experience as I did!

hey all, i had an amazing time as well. friday night's reception was pretty nice--- i had a great conversation with the head of elon college fellows, plus getting to meet a bunch of the college fellows. my seminar on saturday was 20- about this professor's photography project in the appalachian area of virginia, which was very interesting. my interview went very well (i think), since it was with the head of the religious studies department and we had a lot in common. even though elon has been my first choice all along, this weekend was a great confirmation of that. i also had a great time because i got to stay over with my friend, who is a freshman elon college fellow this year, and meet other people in the program, so i kind of got a feel for the type of people in the program and what is really expected of the students. all in all an amazing time and i'm so looking forward to going back down in april for spring orientation.

You're going back down in April?? That's awesome...and cool that you got to stay with your friend, I wish I could stay on campus overnight...I just can't wait for August!! :-P The only reason I wouldn't be at Elon then is because of money, but hopefully it will work out- the presidential scholarship helps, and hopefully other scholarships will add on. School is getting unbearable, what with all the parents and the living at home...lol. I'm glad everyone had such a great time!! Good luck April 1st!!

does anyone know whats the sat range for accepted students at elon?

The mid 50 is 1100 - 1230.

ctphoenix - I definitely think my mom met your mom - she mentioned talking with a parent from CT who was bringing her daughter back next month for orientation. That's pretty funny that she would randomly meet her out of like 500 kids' parents...

haha, that's great. i couldn't believe how many people were down there!

i'm going back down there next month just because we weren't sure if they would cover a lot of the same things at fellows weekend and orientation. after talking to my friend who went to both last year, we figured it would be a good idea to go to both. the spring orientation is over my spring break, so i won't have to miss any school and i get to spend more time at a school that i absolutely love. :-)

btw, i think that the sat average will probably go up after this year, for the class of 2009, just because many people that they are admitting have higher and higher scores. i believe they said the average score of the people at fellows weekend was a 1313. while the people there also probably were some of the most qualified applicants, i think this is a lot higher than in the past, so that it's probably indicative of the class as a whole. but then again i could be wrong...

crazy--- definitely look into elon, it's an amazing school. if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line!

ctphoenix... actually i was wondering for a friend of mine, im done applying to colleges now im just waiting for april. i'm really worried for her though bc she really wants to go there but her sats aren't in that range.

well, if that's the mid-50, then that means that there are still 25% of accepted students whose sat scores are below that. even though they've gone up from last year, sat scores alone won't determine whether or not she gets in. good luck with everything!

she was waitlisted :(

that happened to a lot of people at my school as well... such a bummer.
