<p>Anyone know when the online application for 2007 will be operational? My son registered and tried to start it yesterday and when he logged in with his password, it gave him an error message saying the application date for RD had already passed. Obviously it's still set up as the 2006 application, even though the link says 2007.</p>

<p>they're busy making housing assignments and the schedules for incoming freshman. give them some time. in the mean time you can work out everything you're going to write for the basic fields, it's pretty much all the same as the common app with some minor differences. i'd say just fill out the common app and when the time comes put it in elon's application page. there's plenty of time...</p>

<p>Normally I would agree with you -- most other schools don't have the online app up and running yet. What annoys me about Elon's situation is that they have very clearly made getting an early start on their application a big deal -- every admissions rep has said something similar to "it's very much in your best interest to get the application in as soon as you feel comfortable". Geez, they even sent the hard copy app out during the first week in April!. And they posted a notice on their website in big bold letters that the online application would be available on June 1. Then they moved it to June 8. Then they actually did put the link up on June 8 -- and it doesn't work. That's the annoying part. But in the grand scheme of things, my son isn't even close to having an essay ready, he was just hoping to fill in the rest of it.</p>
<p>no, unfortunetely you can't import/export applications.
however, for the most party, they ask all the same questions in a similar format. what do you parents do? do they have a degree? what kind of extra curriculars do you do and for how long, etc. i found that even on applications that were on the school's websites, the only things that changed (for the most part) were the essays, which are different for each school with the common app anyway. what i did is i just filled out as much of the common app as i could, then gave it to my parents to fill in their parts. I then printed out the final draft of that (minus the essays) and had all the information for my other applications, ie, elon's. the application process is really easy if you have all the information.
ps, that's true, elon has been kind of flakey recently, and not working in admissions i don't know what to tell you. they said they'd have housing assignments july 1st, but changed to july 6th. hopefully they will actually be out on the 6th!</p>
