Email from Admissions Officer?

I got an email from my admissions officer personally telling me what she liked about my application. I was just wondering if this is something they sent to everyone who was accepted or if I should feel especially special (I feel special no matter because her kind words must be true if she liked me enough to accept me).
Anyone else get one?

They don’t send it to everyone but it isn’t uncommon for Oberlin admissions officers to do that at some time during the process.

I got one and figured a lot of other people did. It was a nice touch, but I’ve kinda been drifting more towards Macalester and away from Oberlin for school.

My D got one today too. She loved it, as did I. The letter was awesome and really has made an impression on her and us. Of course, a lot of schools, if not most, send something similar to acceptees, but Oberlin’s is the only one that talked specifically about some of her accomplishments, especially ECs, and how because of her ECs she is a perfect fit for Oberlin.

Interestingly, another LAC my D is considering, Dickinson College, arranged for the mother of a current student to invite us to her home for tea and conversation about the school (no doubt, a very impressive home, judging by the address). I’ve never heard of that kind of recruitment tactic by a college. The “full court-ship” by Dickinson is more impressive than Oberlin’s, if that’s possible.

got one - Oberlin is definitely the most personal school, at least in terms of admissions, that I applied to. My admissions guy kept on emailing me great things about my essay and app. during Feb and March, then just piled on the compliments once I got in. Okay, i’m a sucker, but I didn’t get anything personal from other schools.
