I don't think its the matter of rejection, rather a better hope of getting in if you get the email with the "were worth the wait". But other than that, I don't think the email implies anything about rejection.

yeah, i mean
i really hope we can figure this out thursday/friday
when we ACTUALLY know if we're in or not

This is fun :D

I'm out of state and I got OUA-#00000002-APPS_UNLOGGED

I have a theory (but probably wrong) that california residents are the ones that get the "we are worth the wait" letter as many students in california apply to more than one UC campus. Just to bring some thoughts up.

^^^ I can shoot that down right now, friend from my school got #2.

I realize the OoS argument has been shot down.

I'm shooting down the possible out of country offshoot: my friend from Canada got #3

Okay, after my Easter Sunday festivities with the fam, checked back on here and saw that posts were over 300 and views over 15,000. Nothing like a conspiracy theory to get things "hopping" . . .

When I left the forum this morning, I had pointed out the difference in the verbiage used in my S's e-mail versus the posted e-mail (way back on page 9). The critical difference being the "don't tell other UCs yet" and the "we're worth the wait" language. Upon my return, it appears that 3 different versions were sent to applicants (well . . . I suppose 4 if you consider "no e-mail" a version!). Great work guys!

Now, for all you "naysayers" out there, whether you agree with posters who believe that the difference in these e-mail versions is just a "mistake," it is undeniable that there IS a difference between these e-mails (and the Cal web site language). So, BerkeleyBowles, you need to work on your critical reading skills so you can make the Cal alumni proud!

As for Learnmestuff, I find it highly unlikely that the Cal Office of Admissions Staff would take the time on an Easter Sunday to answer YOUR e-mail asking about the "confusion" allegedly created by these differing e-mails.

First, there is no "confusion," just rampant speculation on a public forum.

Second, you claim that based on your e-mail, Cal sent a "clarifying" e-mail to prior recipients of the "worth the wait" e-mail. Sorry, don't believe you.

Finally, even if I and others on this forum are correct that "Version 3" is akin to a "likely letter," the OA staff is not going to admit that their e-mail was anything other than a "reminder." As I posted previously, the UCLA Engineering "Likely Letter" said on its face that it did not mean the recipient had been admitted. But guess what? Everyone who received that letter was admitted to UCLA Engineering.

Great. Now I'm panicing because I didn't get ANY LETTER!! I'm supposed to be finishing my homework right now, but thanks to you guys, I wasted over an hour reading each comment in this thread!!!!

But seriously, I am scared. UCB is my dream school. I got into UCLA, but I want to go to BERKELEY!!!

lextalionis: i seriously hope you are right. just reading your posts is giving me hope that since i received the 3rd email, i might have hope for berkeley. especially since my uc gpa is only 3.0 and my sat is 1930. T_T please accept me berkeleyyyy!

I'm wasting my time on here too because I didn't get a stupid e-mail either, but I'm on spring break so it doesn't matter.

Tell me if any of you guys agree with me. Since there's a version of the "reminder" for all to see on the website, wouldn't they just send that out through mass e-mail? Instead, they took the time to create THREE different letters. I don't know, interesting, but I still expect rejection after receiving #3.

lextalionis:
so in a nutshell, you think there are some difference in versions of emails..?
i really hope so...

ATCQ.J5:
me too...

For those of you who received #3, did you guys already have your myberkeley account activated?

@yayitsjane - yes got #3 after activating myberkeley long ago (must have been more than 1 month)...

I received #3 and I activated my account a long time ago as well. Its been about 2 months I believe.

And while I admit I'm just another hopeful, lextalionis has one point right for sure...

UC ADMISSIONS OFFICES CANNOT BE TRUSTED FOR CONFIRMING RUMORS.

While this rumor may be false, we have seen in the past month numerous examples of inaccurate information from the admissions offices. UCLA and UCSD left applicants in the dark by saying that they hadn't picked a day to release decisions yet just a day or two before they actually came out. Not to mention the engineering letter mentioned earlier. UCSB sent out chancellors reception invitations that stated VERY clearly that these letters were not likely letters indicating acceptance.

Just throwing this out there.

^oh wow. someone's a little upset.

No one's going to blame Lex if they dont' get into Cal. At least she's giving us a little hope...

^^learnmestuff, are you for real? No swearing, spitting or throwing things, and look how the veins in your neck are bulging now...Play nice or get out of the sandbox! lex is entitled to her opinions and you are entitled not to agree with them, end of discussion. P.S. If some of you could read, the language in the letter posted on the website is slightly different from version 3 that many on this forum received. It's obviously past your bedtime... :>)

learnmestuff: woahh you need to calm down... that was really unnecessary and uncalled for. at least lex is giving us some hope of getting into Cal... if you don't like people speculating on the differences in the emails, then maybe you shoudn't be reading this thread and making unnecessary comments like that.

Since people apparently forgot about this, #3 =/= auto reject, because prospective regents people have been getting it.

Learnmestuff,

You remind me of the Adam Sandler character in the movie Anger Management. Maybe you should rent it some time, and while you're at it, you should consider some anger management classes for your own sweet self.

You are WAY too high strung to take the pressures of an elite university like Cal. If less than a half-dozen posts from my "ancient rear end" (I actually got a big laugh out of that one!) can set you off, then what's going to happen when one of your professors fails you in his or her course because you can't support any of your rants with evidence?

I noticed that you completely side-stepped my comment that I didn't believe you when you stated that the Cal Admissions Office had sent a "clarifying" e-mail to prior e-mail recipients as a result of your contact with their office. Instead, you went off on a tirade like some out-of-control pre-teenager who had just completed a course in "Intro to Name Calling." Sticks and stones, buddy.

I might have missed it, Learnmestuff, but which version of the e-mail did you say you received?
