I feel like I'm flooding this thread. Why does it seem like I'm the only person who didn't receive the email who is worried about it??????????????????????????????????????? Anyway...

The person with the CC username myBerkeleyApp is legit. I know this for a fact. I communicated with him/her through an official Berkeley email account (he's like the tech guy, I'm presuming), and he/she verified that he/she is a myBerkeleyApp associate. Here's what he/she emailed me:
"Yes, myBerkeleyApp in CC is legit. Here is the email you (and ALL freshmen applicants) should have received."
Then he/she pasted email #3.

Because of this whole overanalyzing-the-emails thing, I'm psyching myself out and thinking that the myBerkeleyApp person is telling us white lies. This isn't good for me (because I didn't get an email), but maybe the emails really do mean you are admitted and if you didn't get it, you are a reject. I just don't see any other explanation to this email thing...why would there be so many people who didn't get an email? Honestly, what are the chances of having that many "technical glitches"? (But then again...there were quite a number of people who got the email too...I DON'T KNOW! I'm driving myself crazy!! Errg....)

Am I just being overly pessimistic or am I making sense here???? Can someone call the Undergrad Admissions Office tomorrow? I couldn't call today after school because I got home late and the office closes at 4 -______- They're open from 1PM-4PM. Hmm...but they might tell us the same thing that myBerkeleyApp has been saying...what should we believe? I really want to figure this thing out before Thursday so I can be prepared for rejection if my theory is correct... :(

Not directly. He/she posted something on this thread earlier saying that everybody SHOULD have received the email and that they supposedly had a number of email bounces...something like that. Basically, because of technical glitches. But again, that's kinda hard to believe...

ya, and quite weird that he/she claimed that they "resent an email which clarified that this wasnt a likely type letter", yet I know i didnt receive it. but i cant speak for everyone else because we all seem to have different stories. Lets just pray that this whole thing was a waste of our time and that berkeley didnt just consciously and actively mess with a bunch of volatile/stressed minds

I have come to the conclusion that we all MUST STOP STRESSING! Decisions are out in 2, count 'em, 2 days! Until then, take a break. I barely logged on yesterday or today, and now I'm finding that this board has nearly 600 posts and has outnumbered views of lots of stickies. Calm down people. Whether you are in or not, speculating will do nothing. It will either get your hopes up too high or too low. You are all FANTASTIC applicants, and you musn't worry! No matter what happens with Cal, you ARE a great student (after all, you're a CCer).

wow im so lucky im going to disneyland tomorow to get my mind off of this and let a day go past. berkely has consumed my mind. hopefully this is exactly like we predicted. this is driving me crazy

Forgive me for sounding selfish, but...
NOOO WAAITTTT!! WHAT ABOUT MEEEEEE (and others who didn’t get an email)??!??!?!!!! Don’t stop this thread!! Haha...
But just another question to boggle us even more and give me a little hope, maybe... Would Berkeley be dumb enough to send out an email to only a select few (Berkeley’s admits)? Wouldn’t that make it obvious? Out of the people I know, almost all of the seniors who applied to Berkeley got the email except for a few of us...but then again, I know a lot of smart people who would get into Berkeley... *Of the people you guys know, how many received the email and how many didn’t? * Since we’re all from different high schools, I think we could get a good idea or even figure out this mystery by seeing the ratio of people who got the email to people who didn’t...please help???!! :)

I think quite a few of friends who have applied to UCB got the email. I'm like the only one that hasn't got it... For sure my stats are better than most of my friends though.

Of the people I asked, 8 received the email and 2 or 3 didn't.
Of those 8, one of them was rejected from Davis and LA but accepted to SD, one had 1500ish SATs, and another was rejected from LA. The other 5 got into LA (that's all I know). Of the ones who didn't get the email, only one got into LA (that was me) and one had SATs around 1700

getting it does not mean you're accepted. not getting it does not mean you're rejected. the theory is that there is no theory. in 2 days we'll find out everything anyways so can we just end it at page 37? this is crazy enough as it is.

This is strange - it is a glitch I suppose, but a lot missed it, that's for sure. Maybe Berkeley's Comp. Sci. isn't as good as we thought, eh? :D
