I have some very specific questions that I would like to write in email to a college admissions officers, so
- What would be the polite and acceptable way to address him/her?
- How can I demonstrate my interest in the college?
- Do they usually invite questions from prospective students on a regular basis?

You’re probably uncertain whether to use Mr./Mrs./Miss/Ms. etc. “Dear Alice Smith:” always works. Admissions people are usually quite friendly, and when they reply, they will typically use your first name only and sign with first name only. When they do, start using first names.

Demonstrate interest by asking questions beyond “How do I do X?” and “Am I eligible for Y?” Ask questions about the cultural life, tailgate parties, popular classes, anything the goes beyond the mechanics of applying and financial aid.

Admissions officers at every college/university my daughter and I communicated with last year were thrilled to exchange emails. It probably helped that my D was an excellent candidate.

I think admissions officers are happy to get emails from prospective students I would keep in mind 1) not to email them with questions that can be easily answered by looking at the school website and that 2) one or two emails are fine but an endless barrage of emails will probably not be viewed favorably.
