A few weeks ago, I sent out my first email to a number of coaches. Some replied, some haven't.
Should I continue to email those coaches, even to those who haven't replied to me, to keep in contact?
If so, what should my 2nd email say? I know I'm suppose to keep them updated but there's really nothing to update them on since my season hasn't started yet. I hear from a lot of people that you have to keep sending them emails to show your interest. Is it really that important to email them constantly?
Advice?

My advice is to wait until you have something to update them on and then send second emails to everyone on your list. It is early days yet (assuming you are a Junior) and the process is a long one. My S emailed every time he had a new PR, or got SAT scores back or was in a competition. Don’t waste their or your time emailing with no new news…

DS had some coaches we did not hear from after the 1st e-mail. Sent another one saying, “wrote you a while back and didn’t hear from you. Just in case it got lost, wanted to let you know etc.” We did hear back after that. Don’t know what happened with the first e-mail, but they have been known to get lost. Not sure where they end up?? So I’d at least check back. If you don’t hear, then maybe wait a while until you have some solid info to pass on.

Thanks!
Should I copy paste what I wrote in my first email the 2nd time? Or restate everything?

If the coach didn’t reply back, you can forward your original email to the coach along with an update - that’s what my son did, so that the emails were all one thread.

At some schools the head coach delegates a lot of the early recruiting duties to the assistant and then gets more involved at the end. I would make sure you cc the assistant on all your initial email as you may hear back from them, before you hear back from the head coach. Of course this varies by program.

I am in the same situation! I have emailed about 15 coaches (a lot… i know) and got responses from all but three. These three are nowhere near the top of my list - but I still email them periodic updates. So far, these three colleges have gotten three emails from me - but still no response! If you really care about these colleges, keep updating and maybe call the coach to make sure they got the email and that they are interested. Their time is valuable, but so is yours. Per NCAA rules, the COACH cannot call YOU, but YOU can call the COACH. If you don’t really want to play for them, don’t really want to go there, drop them after maybe four emails.
