I know both Emory and BC are great colleges for finance major, but I want to know which school has a better internship and employment rate.
If you have to choose one school, which school you would choose?
Goizueta says that 97% of their BBA students have a paid or for-credit internship. 42% of those are in financial services. For full-time employment after college, Goizueta says 96% of its students have an offer within 3 months of graduation. 32% of the class ended up working in finance, with an average base salary of around $75K. They largely end up in the South and Northeast. (http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-majors/2199731-economics-vs-political-science-vs-marketing-vs-computer-science.html#latest).
Carroll has very similar numbers. 94% of graduates had an offer within 3 months of graduation, and they made an average base salary of around $71K. Carroll students are a little more evenly spread across business functions, so only 25% of its students end up in finance (but a further 12% end up in investment banking, which Goizueta doesn’t break out separately and which I would assume is included in financial services).
If I had to choose one, I personally would choose Emory. But that’s from Atlanta and Emory was one of the colleges I looked at when I was looking at colleges (a long time ago). I have more familiarity with Emory, and I know their business school graduates are well-regarded. But so are BC’s, and I don’t think you can really go wrong in terms of career placement. Given they are so close, you should be choosing based on fit in other places - social life, environment, weather, location, resources, professors/classes, etc.
Of course, one big difference between the two is that it appears Carroll admits students as freshmen, while Goizueta admits students as juniors after they have spent two years studying at Emory College or Oxford College. So there’s always the chance that you’ll get into Emory, but that you won’t get into Goizueta. That said, Poets&Quants says that Emory’s BBA acceptance rate is about 93 percent.
Two excellent schools with similar outcomes. Different locales and vibes. Fit for particular students that have the option to choose would be determining factor.
