I find it odd that the pages curve at precisely the point where the numbers appear flat and therefore wouldn't require extra photo-shopping effort.

LOL I wish I could photoshop that well! I originally posted these, and they are real. I got them at Barnes and Noble yesterday. Check the thread in Search and Selection for more info.

Congrats Emory! :)

It's real, get over it. Besides being tied with Vanderbilt, which should not be ranked as high as Emory, it is a very favorable ranking.

I'll elaborate:

Emory:
PA: 4.0
Grad Rank: 25
Fac. Resource Rank: 12
Selectivity Rank: 15
Financial Resources Rank: 16
Alumni Giving Rank: 15

Vanderbilt:
PA: 4.1
Grad Rank: 30
Fac. Resource Rank: 10
Selectivity Rank: 25
Financial Resources Rank: 15
Alumni Giving Rank:30

... How do we tie?

I don't mean to start this here, but I don't really post anywhere else but the Emory board. What is the attraction of Wash U? And why is it ranked so high? Emory and WashU have a rivalry, attract the same type of students, etc., but I just don't get it. I'm sure it's a great school and all, but the only thing I can compare is the English departments. I was hoping someone who applied or is fimiliar with both could provide some more info. Thanks.

you might want to ask vtoodler since it seems that he has gone to both.

yea anyone who reads that can just send me a message so we dont waste peoples time. thanks again.

Blaze, if you look closely, the picture posted at the bottom of the US News webpage is of the 2006 edition, not the 2007.

That's not true- it matches up perfectly. Plus, I actually do have the rankings, as proven by the other pictures.

Both schools have overall scores of 80. Just read the criteria.

Understood. The question was clearly somewhat rhetorical. My comment was aimed at noting that besides for the PA score (which is highly weighted), Emory looks like a better school on paper than Vanderbilt... i.e. grad rank and selectivity rank. So basically, Vanderbilt is tied with Emory solely because it's PA score, which is subjective, is 0.1 points better.

I feel like someone should be playing the theme to the Jeffesons right now. I'll make one up.

Cuz we're a movin on up
(We're movin on up)
To spot eighteen
(Mo-vin on up)
To an even tie with Vandy in the ranks-
Mo-vin on up
(Mo-vin on up)
To spot eighteen
(Mo-vin on up)
We finally got some love from US News

I knew Emory couldn't possibly be ranked lower than vandy a la last year. Well at least we are definitely a top twenty school. Last year we were on the bubble, so this puts my heart at ease. I mean tied for twentieth cuts it a little close. Plus 18 numerically means chai, for those of the Jewish persuasion. Hillel should have a party in celebration.

Just saw the actual US News rankings!! Although some schools were reported inaccurately Emory is indeed 18th!!! YAY!!!! Go Emory!!!!

"looks like a better school?" i'm not one to get into the numbers game but since that's apparently how you judge universities...both have essentially an equal number of applicants, both have the same middle 50th percentile test scores(SAT and ACT), and vandy has a marginally lower acceptance rate(35% vs 36%). Yet emory's selectivity rank is 15 vs vandy's 25?

look, i dont care who's better and honestly, both schools are pretty much the same(notre dame included). so please stop sounding as if you're annoyed that you tied.
