Emory Scholars 2022 Thread

Apparently it’s released on 2/8. The wait is difficult.

decisions on scholarship come out February 8th, 6pm ET

Feb. 8th this year!

@aussiehopeful22 @ktengann

Is this confirmed? Did you get an email ?

@rossie03 Emory sent out an email earlier today

Yes they sent out an email. All the best to everyone!

If we are chosen as a finalist does that mean we are admitted to the university, regardless of if we end up actually obtaining the scholar status?

Emory Scholars is an amazing honor, but I am really not banking on it. They look for extraordinary, brilliant students, picking out about 1-2% of applicants. Sometimes I say I’m not expecting anything but a small part of me still hopes, but in this case I am unconcerned whatsoever. I’ve got better things to do than pine away for 2 weeks for no reason :)) Actually logging off CC for a mental break, lol.
I wish you all the best, good luck you amazingly talented humans!! :slight_smile:

Looks like 10500 applicants for around 25 scholars awards?

@klbmom18 : No, more get a full scholarship than that, but usually like 25-30 take the offer. But it is still not that many people. Only like up to 250 or so will be offered an interview.

We received an email saying February 8

What are some of the stats on students getting Emory Scholars?

I really wish they let their essays be longer because I really feel like my essays weren’t as good as they could have been, if I had been given a longer word count

What percent get accepted through this scholars program?

@doglover760 : It cannot be a fixed percent as the numbers vary per year, sometimes dramatically. Knowing a % for one year may be completely meaningless. I also don’t understand how anyone can know more than what the admissions office discloses (people, there is no shame in using it and other Emory websites to look up little factoids like this): http://apply.emory.edu/apply/scholar.php

Here, use those 2 to make a calculation.

The previous year had only like 5.something thousand applicants and the year before that 6ks…it can vary dramatically. The only thing you should know is that it is pretty slim. You just cross your fingers and hope your talent or whatever characteristics appeals to them in whatever year.

I think I read about 200 awards this year out of about 10,000 applicants (record numbers applying to many top 25 schools this year).

does anyone know when the scholars weekend is?

I think another factor for the increase in Emory Scholars application is just how easy it is to apply for that program. Any applicant to Emory can just check a box and be considered for Emory Scholars; no essay or additional recommendation needed. The acceptance rate will plummet but I don’t think necessarily the applicant pool composition will be immensely more competitive ( at least I would hope! )

@LushLillies
You have to apply by November 15th. your application must be prepared very quickly, thus signifying high(ish) interest.
