Encryption Courses?

As the title states, I am trying to learn all I can about encryption (as a Computer Science major), but my university does not offer any courses on it. I thought about paying for a specialization on Coursera, but was not sure if that is beneficial to my resume for future employers. If not, what is the best way for me to learn about, become certified in (if possoble), encryption?

<a href=“Books on cryptography - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Books_on_cryptography</a> may help.

You can also learn some of the mathematical background by taking courses in algebra and number theory from the math department.

Yeah I’ve looked into the maths offered by my university also. I was just curious if there was more out there than books that actually shows that I know it and not that I just read some books on it.

Stanford has a crypto course in Coursera
