Endowment / student

I searched on the Internet and found this:

Thoughts on Education Policy: Top 50 Endowments Per Pupil

There are many other sources. Is a high endowment/student indicative of a school that will offer either more aid (i.e. they have a more lenient CSS EFC) or a better package (i.e. grants instead of loans)?

I was surprised by some schools on the list and some that were not.

To answer your questions it really depends on the school. Some offer the best FA (higher income allowed) and/or a better package. It depends on how the college manages their funds and what their goals are for the student body.

Xwords - Our family received significant different aid packages from equally selective and endowed schools.

^Agreed. Last year D2 was accepted to 2 in the top 5, the difference in COA between them was about 22k.

I think one major factor that has to be considered is the number of students. Even with similar endowment per student numbers, there are economies of size that 5k UG + Grad student colleges realize that 1.5k LACs do not.
