engineering and art-is it possible?

I applied to both CIT and CFA thinking that since I already spend a lot of time painting/drawing, I would likely want to take several art classes. At the time I was even considering fully majoring in art, but the economic volatility lead me to be very concerned about future job stability in the fine arts business. So now I am planning on majoring in material sciences--lots of cutting edge R&D in almost every field, but I feel as though I may regret not making a go at art. Is it possible to double major/minor in engineering and art? If it is, is the workload doable, possibly on a 5 year plan if necessary? Any thoughts?

According to the AP Credit Policy, I will be awarded at least 60 units. Is this enough to help?

Thanks

One of my good friends at CMU was a Materials Science and music performance (or something like that) dual degree student. It took him an extra semester to graduate, and during the spring semester before going to grad school for Materials, he went to Europe to study under a french horn master.

Your AP credits will be a help mostly if they’re in science pre-req classes, since you won’t be having a problem filling up your humanities electives via classes in CFA. It shouldn’t be too big of a deal to minor (another of my friends got a minor in photography in addition to her MS in MSE in four years), and double majoring should be possible, though it’ll require a lot of work.

Look into a CIT major and HCI as a dual. HCI reserves a number of slots for fine arts maybe because engineers have no sense of feeling :)
